This school is a two-form entry school and is located in North Moscow in the Voykovskaya district. We educate children, from Year 3 to Year 6, 7 to 11 years of age, from around 21 different nationalities. We are located next to school 7 (the secondary school) and near to school 1 (the infant school). The well qualified and experienced teaching staff deliver a curriculum which is based on the English National Curriculum with modifications to suit our location in Moscow.
At The School’s Disposal
We are a UK Department for Education accredited British Schools Overseas, where UK school inspectors compared our standards to those of independent schools in England – at the conclusion of this rigorous inspection we achieved ‘outstanding’ grades for every category www.gov.uk/guidance/british-schools-overseas-inspection-scheme
In addition, we are accredited members of COBIS – Council of British International Schools – the premier global association for International British Schools Overseas, www.cobis.org.uk
School 2 is a community school – there is a strong ‘family’ feel to us. Staff know the children well and older children are encouraged to care for the younger children.
Our pupils develop and hone their learning skills in a positive atmosphere where independence is instilled from an early age. Children’s self-esteem and sense of self-worth are promoted through a well-developed reward system and frequent opportunities to take responsibility.
Socially, pupils develop by having opportunity to learn about different cultures and get to know different children from around the world as well as take part in regular concerts and performances to develop their creativity and confidence.
Classes are taught exclusively in English, and children new to English receive extra support in smaller groups using specialist teachers. Our education combines high academic expectations with a broad, rich and creative curriculum. There is continuity and progression, challenge and pace.
Furthermore, underpinning our creative curriculum are the basic skills of reading, writing and mathematics. These are taught in depth and have a central place in our curriculum delivery by using and applying them through interesting contexts.
