On the 6-9th April the students of Years 12 and 13 ( School 3) visited Frankfurt and Nuremberg under the Program CAS (CREATIVITY, ACTIVITY, SUPPORT). This trip gave the children the opportunity to get acquainted with the history and culture of Germany  and to participate in such exciting events as the quest around the town (searching for the memorial dedicated to the victims of Nazism), run at the stadium "Commerzbank-arena» and other ones. The students once again felt themselves like a single team, ready to make their studies at school more interesting and exciting.

Here are some of the trip reviews written by the children themselves:

The trip to Frankfurt was a fun and informative experience for me. We always woke up early, starting the day next to the beautiful River Main, heading to the old town of Frankfurt. Our daily trips consisted of long and exciting walks around the historic city, visiting the beautiful green parks that are spread around Frankfurt, as well as exploring some of its memorials to the victims of the Holocaust. We visited a nearby ‘health city’ known as Bad Homburg, where we enjoyed the fresh country air. Apart from Bad Homburg, we also visited one of the most historic cities of Germany: Nuremberg. Many of the buildings, including the castle were renovated after the damage suffered during the Second World War, which was very interesting for me to see. Nuremberg’s atmosphere was enriched with numerous examples of classic Germanic architecture, making it a pleasant area to explore. Last but not least, one of the greatest highs of the class trip was the German food, which meant we had a difficult time resisting the smell of the freshly baked pretzels in the streets as well as the sausages, a variety of meat dishes, German salads and snacks.

      Josephine Alles, year 13

During the CAS trip to Germany we had the unique experience of visiting the Eintracht Football Stadium. While there we got to see world renowned football players training, visit the exclusive “Nike” box, that costs viewers 200,000 euros per season, sit in the players’ home seats and see the press-conference room, also enjoying the rare opportunity to run around the field itself. This wouldn’t have normally been possible due to the immense amount of time and money spent on caring for the grass covering, however the stadium management team made an exception. My first thoughts when we came out of the players’ tunnel and saw the enormity of the field first-hand, were filled with awe and intimidation; I was definitely not used to running distances like this, however it felt like a challenge worth taking. We started out jogging, but about a quarter of the way into the run, the adrenaline took over and we sprinted the rest of the way. Despite being severely out of breath when reaching the finish, I felt beyond excited and almost revitalized, which I believe was a sentiment shared by the entire group, including the teachers. Overall, this adventure-like experience is one that we won’t forget for a while!

      Lilia Sukhova, Year 12

A review written by one of the parent:

      Dear Mr. Bridge

I would like to say big thank you for the possibility of our children to go abroad as a class. I find it a very useful experience and just a great opportunity for them to socialize and feel like a team. The trip is very useful in terms of expanding the cultural horizons of our children. The organization of the trip was to a very good standard, and according to my son, Kruglov Zakhar,  he liked it a lot and would go to future school trips if it would be  possible. I would also like to mention and thank Mrs. Danilina and Mr. Phillips for planning and providing the program of the trip.
