Alexey Anufriev
General Director of the NPEI «The British International School»
Alexey Anufriev was appointed to the position of General Director of the British International School in March 2021. Alexey has played an important role in the life of the school since its foundation in 1994. Having commenced his professional career at the school as a finance team economist he later went on to hold a number of senior positions at the British International School. He was appointed to the position of Financial Director in 1998 and has also held the positions of Deputy General Director from 2003 and First Deputy General Director since 2005. In addition to his work at the British International School, Alexey has also had a successful career in other organisations including a major Commercial Bank. Furthermore, in 2001, Alexey was awarded a doctorate in Economic Sciences and holds the academic title of Associate Professor.
Alexey Evsikov
Deputy General Director OF THE NPEI «The British International School»
Alexey Evsikov was appointed Deputy General Director of the British International School, Moscow, in January 2021. Alexey started his professional career at the school as a specialist in 2009. By 2010, he had already been made Executive Director. In 2013, Alexey continued his career path outside the School. Alexey has legal and management expertise acquired in many other companies, including Russian Post, the Association of Russian Banks, the Swiss Bank Representative Office in Moscow, and the Tax Revenue Centre of Moscow. In addition, Alexey has experience in running his own business, as well as undertaking scientific research and teaching at the Higher School of Economics and the Russian State University of Justice. In 2012, he attained a Candidate of Law Sciences degree, and an MBA in 2019.
Stuart Purves
Headteacher¹ of BIS 1 Northern Infant School
Stuart Purves is an experienced primary school practitioner who was first appointed to a teaching position with the British International School in the spring of 2001 in school 4. He later moved to our school campuses in the north of the city and has worked in both schools 1 and 2 in recent years leading up to his appointment to the position of Deputy Headteacher in 2008. Stuart was a member of BIS senior management team for six years prior to his appointment as Headteacher of School 1.
Ben Wright
Headteacher¹ of BIS 2 Northern Primary School
Ben Wright taught in both primary and secondary schools in New Zealand and Australia before joining the British International School in 2015 as a teacher in School 2. In 2019, he was appointed Deputy Headteacher of School 2 and in 2025 became Headteacher. Ben completed a degree in sport and recreation while competing at the New Zealand national level in basketball, before transitioning to coaching and then a career in education.
Tom English
Headteacher¹ of BIS 3 Southern Secondary School and BIS 7 Northern Secondary School
Tom English taught in Ireland before arriving at the British International School in 2010. He has taught English literature for all year groups from Years 7 to 13 covering the English National Curriculum for KS3, IGCSE and the IB. In 2016 he was appointed Deputy Headteacher in school 3 and has had roles as Key Stage 3 and 4 coordinator in the school during this time. He became Headteacher of school 3 in the 2020/2021 academic year, Lead Secondary Headteacher in September 2023 and in January 2025 was appointed Executive Secondary Headteacher.
Olga Dmitrieva
Headteacher¹ of BIS 5 Russian Curriculum School
Olga Dmitrieva graduated with a Specialist degree in biology and chemistry from the Moscow Regional Pedagogical Institute. Upon completing her second education, she became a teacher of the English language. Bringing a wealth of experience in teaching and leadership roles, Olga Dmitrieva joined the British International School in 2022.
Jon Christie
Headteacher¹ of BIS 9 Southern Primary School
Jon Christie joined the British International School in 2017 and became Headteacher of School 9 in 2025. He has extensive international experience, having previously worked in leading international schools in China, Myanmar and the United Kingdom. Jon holds the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH), reflecting his expertise in educational leadership. He is committed to maintaining high standards of teaching and learning at BIS 9 and to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for students from all backgrounds.
