Despite the fact that British and American schools offer education in English, there are many differences between them. Which ones? The journalists of WDAY shared a personal story of the choice in favor of the British school.
Yana Kobyakova knows about American schools firsthand, because her family has lived in the United States for a long period of time. After returning to Russia for 3 months, she decided to send her child only to the British International School and that's why:
First of all, the number and variety of classes in British schools is much higher, which implies the versatile development of the child, while in the American system there are only a certain amount of academic classes for students with high academic performance.
Secondly, in British schools, an individual approach is often applied, as well as development of the child’s individuality, not only focusing on the average minimum standard.
Thirdly, there is no unified school system of education in American schools. School graduates often have different levels of training depending on the educational institution or state, while British schools always adhere to the national programme.
“In comparison with the previous schools, the adaptation at the BIS was easy. Understanding teachers played a big role in this process. After one semester of studying at the BIS, the results were impressive,” shared Yana Kobyakova with readers.
