A mini-journey to charming historic Pskov. What is this city on the banks of the Velikaya River famous for? Our Years 8-10 of School №3 found out the answers!
Travelling around Russia, the students, together with their teachers, keep their diaries where they record interesting observations and moments of the day. We would like to share a rich programme of the school trip to Pskov:Day 1 — The majestic Pskov Kremlin
The students solved its white-stone mysteries and enjoyed stunning views. The day ended with real sweet magic at a masterclass on baking flavoured gingerbread.
Day 2 — Mikhailovskoye village, the place where Pushkin’s family lived
They walked along the alleys which were the inspiration for Alexander Sergeyevich himself, visited the house of his nanny Arina Rodionovna, and saw the very oak tree where the Wise Cat wanders. Under the shade of that oak tree, the students participated in a literary contest, they read Pushkin's poems and received memorable prizes.
Day 3 — immersion in the atmosphere of the Middle Ages, Pskov-Pechersk Monastery. Our students explored the underground caves and learnt about the monks' life.
But the adventure of the BISM team didn't end there. A quest in Izborsk was waiting for them! Having passed the quest and collected all the keys to the “Iron City”, they headed to the Slovensky Springs, unique springs surrounded by picturesque banks.
"We came up with the whole programme of the trip ourselves, taking into account both educational and entertaining aspects. The Pskov region is a treasure trove of historical facts, so it was possible to enrich our students' knowledge in a comprehensive way. The curriculum contains Pushkin's works, and we wanted them to see with their own eyes the famous places associated with his works. Every day the children had immersive activities: quizzes and master classes. Such trips are a great chance for the children to spend time outside the school, get to know each other better, have fun and develop creativity," says Ms Kadgar, a teacher of Russian Language and Literature.
We think the trip turned out to be very interesting and productive.
