This week the lovely students at School 2 celebrated World Book Day by dedicating an entire week to books!
‘Book Week’ was full of fun activities including competitions such as the ‘Extreme Reading’ contest (students had their photos taken whilst reading books in extreme poses, places and situations) and the library quiz, run by the School 2 Library Minions.
Students also took part in literacy lessons with different teachers in which they studied many wonderful books and created eye-catching posters, engaging role plays and thoughtful pieces of writing based on what they had read.
However, the main event was the parade! The auditorium was turned into an imaginary wonderland as excited students dressed up as their favourite book characters and took to the stage to show off their costumes in front of their friends and parents, all to the tune of The Beatles’ song, ‘Paperback Writer’.
Overall it was a fantastic week and a great way to celebrate books and reading. All those involved loved being a part of it!
