On March 14, Years 7 and 8 were waiting for an unusual science lesson. Children took part in a virtual tour of Bowlby's underground laboratory.
The science center is located in the UK, in an active salt mine at a depth of about 1 km below sea level. This is a unique place that allows scientists to detect neutrons, tiny particles produced by reactions in the sun. The children were shown the work of the laboratory and told how neutron research can be used to predict earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
Such interesting, interactive lessons not only fuel curiosity and can motivate any child, but also make it easy to assimilate new information.
