Maslenitsa has long symbolised the farewell to winter and the welcoming of spring. This year at BIS, we celebrated the festival on 12 and 13 February.
A varied and engaging programme was prepared for the students. The celebration began with a presentation about the traditions of Maslenitsa and its significance in Russian culture. The children then enjoyed traditional treats — freshly made blini, the main symbol of the festival.
There was no shortage of activities either: games, competitions, team challenges and winter fun brought plenty of energy and excitement to the occasion.
Maslenitsa at BIS is not only an opportunity to learn about folk traditions, but also a chance to spend time together and experience a sense of warmth and community. The celebration was heartfelt and thoroughly enjoyable.
