The largest squash tournament in the history of Russia, MOSCOW SQUASH OPEN 2021, which was held from 16 to 24 October in Moscow, has successfully finished. For the first time in the history of the Russian squash community, 260 sportsmen from Russia and other 13 countries took part in the tournament.
This was the fourth MOSCOW SQUASH OPEN, but the first one consisting of two independent full-fledged events. On 16 October, the tournament was opened by players of the PSA Challenger Tour category, and from 22 to 24 October, players of Russian categories competed.
About the History of Squash
Squash originated from Harrow, the closed London school for boys, in the 19th century. While playing racquets, students had to wait a long time for their turn to go out on the court, and out of boredom they thought of hitting softer balls against the walls. This is how squash was invented.
The British International School Is a Partner of MOSCOW SQUASH OPEN
This year the tournament was held with the support of the International Squash Federation. The prize fund was $ 12,000. The event was covered by Match TV. The British International School was the main partner and budgeted more than 1.5 million roubles of gift fund for the finalists of the tournament. As a true English school, we educate students in an authentic British environment and we are always happy to support British cultural events.
Next year we intend to declare our junior team to participate in the tournament. Very soon, a squash section will open for BISM students. Everyone will be able to master this truly English sport and show themselves!
Everyone is welcome!
