International Day. Halloween. School Council. Physical Education Kit.
This has been a very good half-term. May I wish you an enjoyable break and I look forward to seeing the pupils back on Monday 24th October.
Kind regards,
Mr Kelly
International Day
BIS is a school that prides itself on international inclusiveness and our ‘International Days’ are a perfect opportunity for us as a school to celebrate the various cultures within it.
This year, Mr Unsworth-Smith did a wonderful job organising trips around the world for the children. Each class visited a range of countries, including: Greece, Belize, Indonesia and Scotland. At each destination they undertook activities relating to that country – much was learnt and it was enjoyed by all.
On Wednesday, the children also celebrated by wearing an international costume. It was a brilliant effort and an excellent way to finish this half-term.
Halloween
Halloween will be held on Friday 28th October. There will be a disco taking place in the sports hall and all parents are welcome to come along...but be ready to cover your eyes from the terrible sights you may encounter! The KS1 disco will be at 13:40. This will be followed by the KS2 disco at 14:30. (There will not be a parade of costumes).
During the disco there will be prizes on offer for dancing and the winners of party games!
To add a touch of mysticism, you may wish to decorate a pumpkin. These will be displayed at the disco for all to enjoy. Please bear in mind that we will be unable to have candles lit inside the pumpkins however it is possible to purchase electrical lights that do the same job.
All donations of Halloween decorations will be greatly appreciated.
Should you not want your child participating in any Halloween activities, please inform your child’s teacher in advance of Friday 28th October. We will be able to discuss all options with you for that day. We hope everyone has a happy, safe and slightly frightening Halloween.
Kind Regards,
Paul ‘Frankenstein’ Rafton
School Council
School Council has recently purchased extra play equipment. They have given it out to the rest of the school and appointed Play Leaders to look after it. Well done School Council!
Physical Education Kit
Your child has weekly PE/Games lessons. Please remember to provide your child with an appropriate PE kit: shorts, t-shirt, (or tracksuit), indoor trainers. Your child will need to change into their kit in order to take part in the lesson.
Please also remember that your child should not wear earrings on a PE day – pupils should remove them for sports classes. Many thanks for your cooperation.
