Happy Valentine’s Day!
Maslenitsa
We will be celebrating Maslenitsa on Friday 17th February. As part of the day’s celebrations we will be having a sharing snack in the afternoon. This will involve children being in classes and sharing party food and the traditional блины (pancakes). The school catering company will be providing pancakes, but we would be grateful if you could send in some party food or some toppings for the pancakes for the class to share. Many thanks.
Book Week
Monday 27th February - Friday 3rd March, we will be celebrating Book week. Your children will be taking part in book related activities throughout the week, including visiting other classes to have Literacy lessons, book buddies with different classes, book cover competitions, Book Week Bingo and on Wednesday 1st March children can come to school dressed as their favourite book character.
Wednesday 1st March
On Wednesday 1st March we invite children to bring along or come in dressed as a book character for a parade in the School 9 hall. Parents are welcome to come and celebrate with us and view the vast array of different costumes. The parade will be at 14:30 for all year groups.
Cambridge Tests Book Fair
On Wednesday 1st March, there will be a book fair after school in the foyer in School 9 for parents to purchase any necessary Cambridge books. The Cambridge tests are for KS2 pupils. Pupils have been submitted to sit these optional tests based upon pre-test scores (all KS2 children sat these pre-tests in January) - children need to have reached a certain level of English in order to be ready to sit the optional Cambridge tests in April. Information about pupils sitting tests in April has already been sent to relevant parents. Further information about Cambridge tests can be found at http://www.cambridgeenglish.org/exams/young-learners-english/.
Wednesday 8th March – Women’s Day
On Wednesday 8th March, there will be no school due to this government holiday.
Talent Show Auditions – Friday 10th March
The format of the talent show will be similar to last year. All children will be given the chance to audition on the 10th March. Children interested in auditioning will need to sign up on the poster in the Music room. The competitors will audition to a small panel made up of children and teachers during the afternoon of the 10th March. During the audition phase, only children will be required – no parents will be attending.
Every child taking part, during the audition day, will receive a warm congratulation and certificate to celebrate their participation.
After the auditions, some children will be chosen to take part in the grand final - the successful acts will perform to the school on the 29th March.
Parents of children competing on the 29th March will be invited in to school.
