      Every year, we see many of our A-Level students facing a pressing problem with choosing a university to continue their studies. Generally, European countries have been considered the best places to pursue higher education. The continent is home to some of the best colleges in Europe which still successfully attract foreign students who look for efficient education, strong career prospects, and a culturally rich experience.

      Why Study in Europe?

      Studying in Europe can offer foreign students a great combination of heritage, academic excellence, and mobility. Many universities offer programs taught in English, internships and mentorships with top networking opportunities.

      University of Cambridge

      Although the University was founded in the XIV century, it still consistently ranks among the best colleges in Europe for international students. And in England it is recognised as the No. 1 university.

      Popular Majors

      Medicine, Business, Economics, Finance, Political Science, Design, and Art History. Graduates usually have no problems finding employment in any large international companies.

      Admission

      Documents must be submitted no later than October 15, and admission is carried out by the UCAS system. The applicant will then be interviewed and should provide A-level results (learn more about the A-Level programme), as well as a certificate of English language proficiency (GCSE-C, IELTS 6-7, TOEFL 600/250). The interviews usually take place from September to December.

      Academic Year

      The first semester lasts from October to December. The second is from January to March, and the third is from April to June.

      Admission

      Applications are submitted by October 15, and the exam results will be announced in the middle of next year. You can apply now through the UK UCAS portal. Applicants must pass the A-Levels qualifications, as well as know English perfectly (according to the IELTS certificate — 7.0 points, according to TOEFl — 110).

      Academic Year

      The academic year begins in October and is divided into three trimesters. The bachelor's degree will take 3-4 years, and the Master's degree will take 1 year.

      University College London (UCL)

      On average, students, taking into account all university fees, spend from 6 to 12 thousand pounds per year.

      Admission

      Applications are accepted in the UCAS system from January 15 to October 15. The applicant needs a secondary education certificate (IB, GCSE, A-Level programme). The level of English language proficiency must be at least IELTS 6.5–7.0.

      Academic Year

      In college, the academic year is divided into 3 trimesters. The first one is from the end of September to the middle of December. The second period is from mid-January to the end of March. The third period is from the end of April to the middle of June.

      Continental Europe

      University of Vienna, Austria

      Founded in the 14th century, the University of Vienna is widely recognised for its law and business programmes. Tuition is remarkably affordable at about €750 per semester.

      Admission

      Bachelor’s degree applications are submitted by September 5th. Pre-registration is carried out via the Internet. Next, the university needs either the original secondary school certificate or a notarized copy. It is necessary to confirm knowledge of German at least B2 level. If the course is taught in English, the same requirements apply.

      Academic Year

      The academic year includes the winter (from October 1) and spring (from March 1) semesters. They study for a bachelor's degree for three years, and for a master's degree for two years.

      Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich)

      ETH Zurich is a hub for engineering, architecture, and management. Among the graduates are dozens of Nobel laureates in physics, chemistry, and medicine, including Albert Einstein.

      Tuition

      CHF 580 per semester.

      Admission

      The deadline for accepting documents for the fall semester is from November 1 to April 30. Entrance exams are taken exclusively in German. The applicant submits to the commission certificates confirming knowledge of the language: Goethe-Zertifikat C1, Goethe-Zertifikat C2, TestDaF, etc. You also need to provide a resume and grades received at school for the last three years.

      Academic Year

      The first semester lasts from October to March. Then, after the session and the holidays, the second semester, which lasts until July. Bachelors study for 3–4 years, masters for another 1–2 years, and postgraduate studies for another 3 years.

      University of Lausanne, Switzerland

      The University of Lausanne in Switzerland is one of the leading European universities known for its research in biomedicine, economics and social sciences. It combines prestige, a high level of teaching and accessibility.

      CHF 1,000 – 2,000 annually

      Admission

      Documents are submitted from March to June, a secondary school certificate, proof of language proficiency (French or English), a letter of motivation and recommendations are required.

      Academic Year

      The academic year is divided into fall and spring semesters. Bachelor’s degree students study for 3 years, and Master’s degree students study for 1-2 years.
